Description

This series is four images put together into one image for easy viewing and comparison.

It is meant to to be viewed as a whole, from left to right.

The first image is of a single Carnation, done in a Manoir Noir technique in Lithography. It represent my great Grandmother, Elizabeth Schierman (nee Dippel). Whom I have never met, but was told she was very fond of this flower.

The second image was created not by grind the stone and clearing the image, but by adding more ink back into the image and scraping away to reveal a Yellow Rose. By doing the process in this way, I am able to create a ghost of the previous image, but still allow a new flower to bloom in the foreground. The yellow rose represents my gramma, Freda Budd (nee Schierman), who told me that she loved a yellow rose but she wouldn't mind a pink one.

Following the female lineage, my mother comes next. The third image is created in the same way the second image was created, but instead you can see the carnation and yellow rose lingering in the background as the Gerber Daisy blooms and takes center stage.

Finally by the fourth image a strong and beautiful garden has grown, blossomed, reproduced and have made room for the Sunflower, me, to grow her leaves.

From womb to womb, I come from a strong and beautiful female lineage that I can be proud of, and hope to continue to bring my own little flower buds into existed, whatever flower they may be.

This really makes me want to experiment with litho on a stone. I've only used the metal plate with uv light method. I love how you can alter the stone and make a new edition!
